The "Doing Business 2010: Reforming through Difficult Times" report was launched at the XIX Krynica Economic Forum, 9th September 2009. The main findings of the report were presented by Thomas Laursen, Country Manager for Poland and the Baltic countries who moderated the panel discussion about the investment and doing business climate in Poland.

Mr Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Ms. Henryka Bochniarz, President, Polish Confederation of Private Employers, Professor Sergio Rossi, University of Fribourg in Switzerland, and Mr Pawel Lisicki, Editor-in-Chief, Rzeczpospolita held an interesting and vibrant discussion about the current investment situation in Poland. From optimism to criticism, the discussion dragged wide media attention.

Poland’s ranking in the Doing Business report hasen’t changed comparing to last year, but the report recognizes major progress in simplifications on starting the business, paying taxes and improvements in the bankruptcy law.

"The World Bank has been and will continue to support the government in its efforts to further improve the business environment in Poland, where major challenges remain in areas such as obtaining construction permit, paying taxes and starting a business”- said Thomas Laursen, Country Manager for Poland and Baltic Countries.
